Day 4
Heavenly Father, we pray that You will speak to us through Your inspired word into our situations, our life and our circumstances. We pray that You will speak to each one of us individually through Your word. We pray for for transformation and conformation into Your image. We asked for the Holy Spirit to do Your work in us. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Mark 1: 32-45
VV 32- 34, ‘’At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.’’

In the evening after sun down, Jesus healed the sick and cast out demons fromthe demon possessed. This was a Sabbath day and Israelites were not allowed to travel more than 2/3rd of a mile or 1 kilometre, the distance between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives. This was called a Sabbath day’s walk. Acts 1:12, ‘’Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.’’ The people waited the Sabbath was over. The whole city’s sick and demon-possessed people flocked to Jesus. After exorcising the demoniacs, Jesus forbade them to speak because they knew Him.

VV 35 -39, ‘ ’Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. 36 And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. 37When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.”38 But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.” 39 And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.’’

Jesus woke up early in the morning and prayed in a quiet place. Jesus, God in human flesh prayed. It is wonderful to wake up early to pray, read His words and spend time with God in a quiet place. If Jesus had to pray to the Father, how much more do you need to do the same? Jesus then went out to all the synagogues in Galilee preaching, teaching, healing, and casting out demons.

VV 40- 45, ‘’Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” 41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” 42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. 43 And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”45 However, he went out and began to proclaim itfreely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every direction.’’

A leper came to Jesus kneeling down and prayed for healing according to Jesus’ will. A leper was someone who had contracted leprosy or Hanson’s disease, a dreadful and contagious disease. It damaged nerves and skin, causes deformity, disfigurements and was fatal. Lepers were quarantined and shunned by society. They had to cry out ‘unclean’ whenever they come near to anyone who was within 50 feet away. Jesus had compassion for him. He said, ‘’I am willing’’, touched him and immediately healed him. In those days, no one one ever touch a leper, but Jesus touched him with love, mercy, and compassion. Are you willing to touch someone today? Jesus warned him not to disclose his healing to anyone. He told him to go to the priest, to do the rituals according to Leviticus 14:1-32. But the man went about sharing and his testimony far and wide. The word of his healing spread around the region until Jesus could not even move about freely. After Naaman, no one in Israel had ever been cured of leprosy. Jesus warned the leper to keep quiet but he told his testimony to everyone. Have you told your testimony to others?

Heavenly Father, thank You for lessons learnt today. Thank You for relentlessly and tirelessly pursuing us to save us. Thank You for healing our sicknessness. Thank You for curing us from a disease called sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
