John 1: 3
“Through him, all things were made and without Him, nothing was made that has been made.”
1). ”Through Him, all things were made”.
”Through Him”, The Word is Him, Jesus Christ. John 1: 17, ”for the law was given through Moses, Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ”.
Jesus (Word) is God’s agent in creation. God (Elohim), created all things by speaking the Word. ”All” includes everything.
Gen 1:3, God said, “Let there be light and there was light”.
Gen 1:6, God said, “let there be a firmament in the midst of the water”.
Gen 1:9, God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together in one place”.
Gen 1;11, God said. “Let the earth bring forth grass”.
Gen 1:14, God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night”.
Gen 1:20, God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures”.
Gen 1:24, God said, “Let the earth brings forth living creatures according to its kind”.
Gen 1; 26. God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to Our likeness.” Note that ”us” is plural, a hint to the Trinity.
2). ‘’And without Him, nothing was made that has been made.”
This is a negative way of saying ”through Him all things were made.” Jesus is not a created being. Jesus is not in the category of ”that has been made”. If Jesus is not pre-existent, He could not make Himself into being. Jesus made all things but nothing made Him. He existed from eternity past to eternity future. He is the pre-existent, eternal, tetragrammaton, YHWH, the ”I AM”, (not the I was).
