Overcoming Fear with Faith

An Unexpected Messenger

Scripture:
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

Observation

Life often surprises us with sudden and unsettling encounters. It could be something small. It could be a sound, a movement, or an uninvited guest. Yet, it shakes our sense of safety and control. These moments remind us that fear can enter our hearts in an instant.

Interpretation

Fear is a natural human response, but faith calls us to lift our eyes higher. The psalmist knew fear well, yet he chose to anchor his heart in God’s protection. An unexpected disturbance in the clinic may seem like nothing more than an inconvenience. Yet, spiritually, it becomes a symbol. Life is fragile, uncertain, and outside of our control. Yet, God is our refuge.

Every “unexpected visitor” in life comes in various forms. These may include sudden challenges, unwelcome news, or mysterious interruptions. Each can be seen as a messenger reminding us to trust God afresh.

Application

  • When fear strikes suddenly, pause and breathe a prayer of trust.
  • See interruptions as invitations to depend more deeply on God.
  • Remember that nothing catches Him by surprise. He is with you in every moment.

Prayer

Lord, when life brings unexpected visitors, help me to respond with faith instead of panic. These visitors may come in fear, anxiety, or sudden change. Teach me to trust You in every moment, knowing You are my shield and my comfort. May even life’s mysteries draw me closer to You. Amen.

A Culinary Celebration of Rare Fish

Celebrating The Hourglass Paradox with Malaysia’s Most Expensive Fish

Some moments in life deserve to be remembered not just with words, but with experiences that linger long after the moment has passed. The pre launch of my latest book, The Hourglass Paradox, was one of these milestones. To celebrate this occasion, I invited family, friends and supporters to something as rare and unique as the book itself, a meal featuring the Wang Pu Liao fish, famously known as the most expensive fish in Malaysia.

A Celebration Beyond Ordinary

Launching a book is a journey’s culmination, months of writing, editing, and refining distilled into a story ready to meet the world. For me, this milestone deserved something more than a routine dinner or a quiet toast. I wanted a celebration that matched the significance of this occasion. That’s when I decided to indulge in the Wang Pu Liao fish.

The Fish Worth RM 1000

Wang Pu Liao is not just a dish; it’s a legend in Malaysia’s culinary circles. Priced at RM 1000, it is highly prized for its rarity, delicate flesh, and unforgettable taste. The name itself, loosely translated, carries a sense of exclusivity, something not easily obtained, not easily forgotten.

When the dish arrived, beautifully prepared, I could already tell this was no ordinary fish. Its aroma was subtle yet inviting, and the presentation made me pause in appreciation before the first bite.

An Exquisite Taste Experience

From the very first mouthful, I understood why Wang Pu Liao is so revered. The flesh was smooth and buttery, melting almost effortlessly. Its flavor was clean, delicate, and slightly sweet, a natural richness that needed no heavy seasoning. Each bite felt like a rare reward, a reminder that some things in life are best savored slowly.

It was more than a meal; it was a moment of reflection. Just as writing a book requires patience, discipline, and passion, tasting this fish felt like a celebration of the journey, a reminder that the best rewards come after hard work and persistence.

A Fitting Tribute to The Hourglass Paradox

As I enjoyed the Wang Pu Liao fish, I couldn’t help but draw parallels between the meal and the book launch. Both were the result of time, effort, and anticipation. Both were experiences meant to be shared, remembered, and treasured.

Will I taste the Wang Pu Liao fish again? Perhaps not, its rarity and price make it a once-in-a-lifetime indulgence. But that makes it even more special. For me, this will always be the memory of how I celebrated The Hourglass Paradox, with gratitude in my hearts, joy in my spirit, and the most exquisite fish in Malaysia on my plate.
