Doing it heartily
Scripture
And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
Reflection
You know, it’s usually pretty easy to get excited and feel inspired when you’re doing those cool, big activities that really catch your eye. Sometimes it can really be a drag when you have to tackle boring stuff, like going through a mountain of papers, folding tons of laundry, or waiting in that frustrating traffic jam on the drive to work.
Honestly, this great verse shows how you can make even the most mundane stuff feel special. It’s funny if you think about it. Working hard, even when nobody’s around, is really like doing it for God, who is your heavenly boss.
Changing your mindset from “I have to do this for my boss to I’m doing this because I love my Savior will really boost your mood and shift how you view your work. It makes what you’re doing feel way more meaningful and fulfilling.
This simple mindset shift will help you appreciate your work a lot more. You will start to tackle your tasks with fresh enthusiasm and a real commitment. When you start to look at the spiritual side of your work, it’s easier to find happiness and meaning in the small stuff, making your day-to-day life a lot more fulfilling.
In the end, this change can make your workplace vibe a lot better and help you connect more with God.
You really should take a moment to think about what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:31. He points out that in everything you do, whether you’re eating, drinking, or just going about your daily life, you should do it in a way that honors God.
This important verse encourages you to see even the most ordinary things you do as meaningful, keeping your goals in line with something bigger. Every little thing you do in your day-to-day life, even if it seems small or unimportant, can really show how much you believe and care if you are doing it for God. So, make the most of your life and give all the glory to God.
Thought provoking questions
Imagine if Jesus is right there next to you while you are doing some everyday chores today. How do you think that will change how you feel about the task or the kind of job you are doing?
Knowing that Christ is watching you, will pump up your energy and make you care more about what you’re up to.
Seeing Jesus as your heavenly boss will transform your perspective, infusing a sense of purpose and reverence into your efforts. Honestly, I really think imagining this scenario will make every chore way more rewarding and fulfilling.
Hebrews 4:13 is a strong reminder that there’s nothing hidden from Christ. He knows everything about your deepest thoughts and what you do. Every detail of your life is laid bare before Him, leaving no space for hidden secrets.
As you go through life, just keep in mind that there’ll be a moment when you’ll have to give an account to Jesus about all the choices you’ve made and everything you’ve done. This awareness demands a deeper reflection and response on living truthfully and transparently.

Dr. Koh has an eye opening way to bring you closer to Bible and following Christ. For many years because of person experience in my life I wasn’t sure if Christ loved me, cared about me, or if he was even real. Then I found this book on a different blog and decided to read it. It says 33 days but honestly it’s kinda hard to stop reading the powerful things being said. It really made me think about things differently. Thank you Dr. Koh.
